This website is dedicated to Laura
Ingalls Wilder, the original Prairie Girl. Laura inspired me
to become a Teacher, Mother and Taught me the meaning of
adventure and Perseverance.
Walnut Grove, Minnesota
In the backwoods of Minnesota lies Walnut Grove, well
it's the backwoods to us City folk anyway. As some of you will remember,
in the television series "Little House on the Prairie" Walnut
Grove was Laura's childhood home. The Museum was great and the people in
town were very friendly. Here are some photos of Walnut Grove.
This is the entrance to the Museum, the sign looks a
bit tattered but the Museum is in great shape along with the rest of the
Museum Grounds.
This is a picture of "Grandma's House", the
Museum grounds are fairly large and the plant growth in the center area
is supposed to be the type of foliage that you would have seen in
Laura's days.
In the "Sod House" on the Museum grounds.
The house is actually made of Sod and it is nice and cool inside.
Steve in the "Old Jail" This is the type of
Jail they had in Walnut Grove during Laura's years there. I believe the
Jail used to be located in the Post Office.
My son Nick in the "Old School House"
There's so many other places on the Museum Grounds to see, these are
just a few of the sites in Walnut Grove.
